Missing: One season, Spring

Is anyone else missing spring? I haven't been able to go shooting since I put my night pictures up. I was looking through some pictures and found these flowers. I hope they remind everyone of warmer times.
I promise, though, as soon as it gets warm, I'll start putting up current pictures.

Shooting Through Glass

Sometimes, the best shots are on the other side of a street. No problem, just cross the street. But when something like glass comes in between you and the ideal shot, things get a little more difficult.
Here are some of my attempts at shooting at an aquarium.

*These pictures were both taken at the Chattanooga Aquarium over the summer

My Ming Vase

This picture is from the Grand Tetons in Wyoming. The only thing that could be better would be if the left mountain was moved in to be in line with the bridge. But that wasn't how it was made. I think this little detail makes the picture more interesting.
John Loengard once said, "A Ming vase can be well-designed and well-made and is beautiful for that reason alone. I don't think this can be true for photography. Unless there is something a little incomplete and a little strange, it will simply look like a copy of something pretty. We won't take an interest in it."
I think that's very true. If the picture were exactly perfect we would skip over it. The little imperfections are often the things that make photos seem most beautiful.

The night sky is a miracle of infinitude. ~Noelani Day

I tried my hand at some nighttime photography. It went alright, but it's still cold. Other than that, it was fun. I probably won't be able to shoot tomorrow, because of the rain. Maybe I'll go out if it slows or stops.

The second picture is a tree with the river in the background. The sky looks a little bright because behind the trees on the opposite side of the river is a city. Also, the first picture is a barge out on the river. You may remember it, it's featured in the first picture I posted.

A life without love is like a year without summer. ~Swedish Proverb

It seems like it's been a year since summer. These are some pictures from the lake over the summer. It was too rainy and cold (mostly rainy) to take the camera out shooting today like I wanted to. I hope it clears up soon, but in the mean time, enjoy these warm summer memories!

Hey, Sports Fans

Just a couple quick snapshots I re-discovered today. The first one is a hockey game between the Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis' very own St. Louis Blues. It was a great game.

The second was taken at Gateway raceway in Madison, Il over the summer. The sun was setting before the race started and the wind was steady.

In other news, it's been really foggy here lately. Any tips for shooting in a cloud? Thanks!

I'm not Ansel Adams

"Buying a Nikon doesn't make you a photographer. It makes you a Nikon owner" ~Author Unknown

Not only am I not Ansel Adams, I'm also not a Nikon owner. I am, however, a photographer. Or, at least, I try to be. My attempts will be documented for your enjoyment (or horror!). Please feel free to leave comments, suggestions, recommendations or dare-I-even-say-it praise.
